Types of Memorial Services

I am able to officiate over the following types of Christian memorial services: wake services, funeral liturgy ceremonies, and graveside committals. I would be happy to officiate at one, all, or a combination of these services.

Memorial Service Components

Most funeral liturgy or ceremonies include the following components:

  •  Introductory Rites
    • Greeting
    •  Sprinkling with Holy Water
    •  Opening Prayer
  •  Liturgy of the Word
    •  Scripture Reading
    • Words by Family or Friends
    •  General Intercessions
    •  The Lord’s Prayer
  •  Final Commendations
    •  Invitation to Prayer
    • Song of Farewell
    • Prayer of Commendation
  • If Graveside Committal is to follow, procession to place of committal occurs here.

I am flexible to help you to plan components that are in addition to the above outline or even very different from the above outline. It is important that the ceremony meet the needs of the family. Please let me know if you would like to see outlines or options for wake services or graveside committals.
